- PEDIATRIC CATARACT SURGERY: lensectomy, phacoaspiration with foldable IOL implantation with posterior capsulorrhexis with anterior vitrectomy
- PEDIATRIC GLAUCOMA SURGERY: Trabeculotomy with trabeculectomy, Ahmed valve glaucoma implant surgery
- STRABISMUS SURGERY: ALL variations including obliques, restrictive squints and paralytic squints
- ADULT GLAUCOMA SURGERY: Trabeculectomy with MMC and valve surgery
- PHACOEMULSIFICATION
Surgical expertise during Senior Residency:
1. Phacoemulsification in difficult cases and under topical anesthesia
2. Squint surgeries over 164 cases (recession-resections ) and over 20 cases of inferior oblique surgeries and 4 superior oblique surgeries.
3. Adjustable squint surgeries in 6 cases.
4. Fornix based Trabeculectomies in adult glaucomas( more than 45).
5. Trabeculotomy with trabeculectomy in congenital glaucoma patients( 12 cases)
6. AGV implantation in adult refractory glaucomas (4 cases)
7. Bleb revision(2 cases)
Surgical Training During Junior Residency:
- Performed independently Phacoemulsification in about 50 cases and assisted more than 500 cases.
- Performed independently Small incision cataract surgery in about 200 cases and assisted in more than 500 cases.
- Performed independently Extracapsular cataract extraction in about 50 cases and assisted in more than 200 cases.
- Performed independently Therapeutic penetrating keratoplasty in 20 cases assisted in more than 100 cases.
- Performed independently Optical penetrating keratoplasty in 5 cases and assisted more than 200 cases.
- Performed independently Trabeculectomy in 4 cases and assisted more than 100 cases.
- Performed independently Dacryocystorhinostomy , Sling operation in Ptosis surgery in 4 cases and assisted in about 20 cases of different ptosis operations.
- Performed assisted modified wheeler’s procedure in Entropion cases and assisted in various lid reconstruction surgeries.
- Performed Scleral buckling under guidance in retinal detachment patients. Assisted in more than 100 vitreoretinal surgeries.
- Performed suturing of Traumatic Sclerocorneal laceration and open globe injuries.
Diagnostic Training:
- Performance of applanation tonometry, interpretation of automated perimetry, HRT, OCT, GDxVCC, CCT, UBM in glaucoma patients. Active participation in monitoring and patient counseling in glaucoma patients.
- Performance of direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy in all patients, identification of breaks, diagnosis and monitoring of diabetic retinopathy patients. Performance of grid and pan retinal photocoagulation (Double frequency Nd-YAG) in DR.
- Evaluation under anesthesia of congenital glaucoma patients.
- Monitoring and counseling of patients in Neuroophthalmology clinic, Strabismus clinic and Amblyopia clinic (synaptophore, prism bar tests, binocularity tests, etc)
